Police crackdown on kidnapping

The Nigeria Police Force has intensified a crackdown on kidnapping, banditry, and violent crimes across the country, leading to the rescue of 21 kidnapped victims and the recovery of 4.8 million naira paid as ransom.

A statement by the Force spokesperson, Muyiwa Adejobi, said the series of operations conducted nationwide in the first quarter of 2025 significantly disrupted criminal networks and strengthened security efforts.

Adejobi said police operatives attached to the Taraba State Command, in collaboration with other security agencies, successfully rescued 20 kidnapped victims along the Takum/Mararaba Road on March 29, 2025.

He added that the rescue mission, which followed a kidnapping incident at Muji Town, resulted in a fierce gun battle between security forces and the kidnappers.

In a separate intelligence-led operation, he said operatives of the Special Tactical Squad arrested Kafinta Musa, a notorious criminal from Taraba State, for his involvement in armed robbery, kidnapping, and illegal firearms possession.

Commending the officers for their bravery and professionalism, Adejobi said the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, reaffirmed the Force’s commitment to tackling crime and ensuring public safety.
